Heinrich throws no-hitter to lead Cooper
Cooper pitcher Lauren Heinrich no-hit Estacado and the Lady Pirates' 10-0 victory Tuesday sewed up no worse than second place in District 1-3A.

Heinrich (16-6) struck out 10 and didn't walk a batter. Her perfect game ended quickly, though, as Estacado two-hole hitter Destinee Royal reached on an error in the first inning.
Berlyn Nuncio also reached on an error in the third.
Hannah Limmer, Alex Derr and Korrie Chandler all were 2-for-3 to lead Cooper (20-8, 7-1 in 1-3A). Derr and Chandler drove in two runs apiece. Limmer scored two runs and drove in another.

AMARILLO - Meagan Navarrette and Megan Granado combined on a two-hit shutout as Coronado blanked Amarillo 10-0 in District 2-5A softball action on Tuesday.
Navarrette also went 2 for 2 with two RBIs at the plate for the Mustangs (24-3-1, 9-2 in 2-5A). On the mound she scattered two hits over three innings while striking out five. Granado finished it with two scoreless innings, striking out two, while going 3 for 4 at the plate.
Lauren Baker also went 2 for 4 for Coronado, which will be back in action Saturday at 3 p.m. at home against San Angelo Central.

ODESSA - Kristy Smith hit an opposite-field, three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as Odessa beat Lubbock High in dramatic fashion.
Lubbock High freshman Alexis Aguilar (5-4) gave up 11 hits, but carried a shutout into the seventh against the Lady Bronchos (21-4, 8-1), who were a Class 5A state finalist last year.
Aguilar struck out the leadoff batter, then yielded a base hit to Chelsey Walters and a bunt single by Karena Quiroz. With a 1-1 count on Smith, a lefthanded batter, Aguilar went low and away, and Smith lifted the pitch over the left-field fence.
Odessa pitcher Courtney Cernoch had a no-hitter through three, then yielded a fourth-inning single to Arleen Alamanza, a fifth-inning double by Nieves Regalado and a sixth-inning single to Amanda Garcia.

Monterey 9, Tascosa 5
Hannah Durham slugged a two-run homer in a five-run first inning as Monterey overcame an early deficit and won at home against District 2-5A foe Tascosa.
Kim Guesiner drove in three runs with three doubles and scored twice as the Lady Plainsmen (8-20, 2-9) fought back from a 3-0 deficit. Durham finished 2-for-2 with two walks and scored three runs. Her homer pulled Monterey within 3-2 in the first, an inning that included an RBI single from Nelly Mendoza.
Guesiner hit an RBI double in the fourth, giving Monterey a 6-4 lead. After Tascosa edged within 6-5, the Lady Plainsmen had a three-run sixth. Brittany Martinez scored on an error, then Guesiner and Aubrie Nielsen stroked run-scoring doubles.
